Adenita Sipayung, WRITING ABILITY BETWEEN USING DRAW LABEL CAPTION (DLC) TECHNIQUE AND PRESENTATION PRACTICE PRODUCTION (PPP) TECHNIQUE AT THE STUDENTS OF SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL 1 KOTA GAJAH ACADEMIC YEAR 2013/2014.


Key Words: Draw Label Caption (DLC), Presentation Practice Production (PPP), and Writing Ability in Hortatory exposition text.

"Writing as one of the four skills has always been as a part of the syllabus in teaching of English.The techniques presented as a solution in this research about writing ability are DLC and PPP technique.There are three problems of the study 1).Is DLC technique effective to improve the students’ writing ability in hortatory exposition text? 2).Is PPP technique effective to improve students’ writing ability in hortatory exposition text? 3) Is there any difference of students’ writing ability in hortatory exposition text using Draw label caption (DLC) technique to Presentation practice production (PPP) technique? The objectives of this research are 1).Whether there is some effectiveness of using DLC ttechnique toward students’ writing ability in hortatory exposition text. 2).Whether there is some effectiveness of using PPP ttechnique toward students’ writing ability in hortatory exposition text. 3).Whether there are positive and significant difference of students’ writing ability in hortatory exposition text using DLC and PPP technique. The method of investigation is held through quantitative experimental research.
The researcher uses modified pretest-posttest control group design. In this experiment, the employees control group pre test post test design. The researcher is conducted at the second grade of Senior High School 1 Kota Gajah in academic year 2013/2014. The population in this research is 311 students which consist of social class and science class in the second grade. The researcher takes 46 students from total population as the sample. 24 students as experiment class of Draw label caption, 24 students as control class of presentation practice production based on classification of student level. And the researcher use cluster random sampling as technique sampling.
To analyze data, the researcher uses t-test. The researcher got the result of The result finds that thit = 2,06, moreover the researcher looks at ttable for α = 5%, the ttable= 2.02. It means ttest>ttable. So, Ho is rejected and H1 is accepted.So, there is any difference result of students’ writing ability using draw label caption and presentation practice production technique. Draw label caption technique is more effective than presentation practice production technique toward students writing ability in hortatory exposition text at the students of Senior High School 1 Kota Gajah in academic year 2013/2014. The suggestions are to raise the students’ writingability in hortatory exposition text, it uses Draw Label Caption technique in writing instruction. The students must be fun and enjoy in using Draw Label Caption technique."
