The Comparison of Them Speaking ability is important for human life in this era. English an international language that used as a meansof communication all over the world. It means that the students are expected to be able to make communication with other. There are two techniques presented as a solution in this research. They are Role Play and Round Robin techniques. The objective of this research is to know whether there are significant differences of students’ speaking ability taught by using role play and round robin techniquesand to know which one is more effective between role play and round robin techniques to improve students’ speaking ability at the eleventh grade of SMK N 1 Rawajitu Selatan academic year 2013/2014. The method of investigation is held through quantitative research. The design in this research is quasi experimental design. In this experiment, the the researcher applies randomized matching control group design. The research is conducted at eleventh grade of SMKN 1 Rawajitu Selatan in academic year 2013/2014. The population in this research is 167 students. It consisted 5 classes and each class consist 33 - 34 students. The researcher takes 60 students from total population as the sample, 30 students as experiment class and 30 as control class. The researcher uses cluster random sampling as technique sampling. By comparing the result of students’ speaking ability by using role play and round robin techniques, the researcher got the result of t test is 14.61 and t table is 2.00 (on criterion 1) and 2.66 (on criterion 2). It means that t test> t table. And the criterion of t test is Ha accepted if t test> t table. The researcher finds that the students’ speaking ability who are treated by Role play technique more showing the significant result than who treated by round robin technique. It means that the teacher should use role play technique in the teaching learning process in developing students’ speaking ability."
